programme? Then take a look at the website "studieren weltweit - Erlebe Es!" of the DAAD and the BMBF. There, numerous correspondents report on their experiences abroad.
Every semester we offer an information event around the topic "studying physics abroad". The last information event took place on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 3 pm via Zoom. The next information event will be announced here.

The application round for stays abroad via the RUB exchange programmes, which are to take place in the academic year 2022/23 (winter semester 2022/23 and/or summer semester 2023), will start soon. All exchange places are free of tuition fees.
RUB students who wish to stay in Europe can apply for Erasmus in their own faculty/department. Applications must be submitted to the Erasmus subject coordinator the respective faculty/department. Accordingly, the documents to be submitted and also the application deadlines may vary from subject coordinator:in to subject coordinator:in. In general, the deadlines for stays abroad in the academic year 2022/23 (both WiSe 2022/23 and SoSe 2023) end between November 2021 and February 2022.

The application period runs from 04 January 2022 to 31 January 2022! More detailed information can be found here or on the website of the International Office.
Students interested in a semester or year abroad outside of Europe can apply for a place at one of RUB's partner universities at the International Office. For stays abroad at the partner universities in the USA via the MAUI Utrecht Network Exchange Program, in Australia via the AEN Utrecht Network Exchange Program as well as at universities in France, Belarus, Russia, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Colombia, China, South Korea, Taiwan and Japan, the deadline is 1 December 2021, 23:59.
At the Centre for Foreign Language Education (ZFA) of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, all RUB students can acquire a DAAD language certificate. The next test dates are Thursday, 28 October 2021 and probably Thursday, 18 November 2021. Taking into account the currently applicable hygiene regulations of the RUB, a limited number of people can be admitted.
On 18 December 2021, RUB members can take the IELTS language test at the ZFA. IELTS is a globally recognised test of English language skills for professional or study purposes. It is in demand and recognised both in Germany and abroad. The closing date for registration is 8 December 2021.
In cooperation with the AKAFÖ Bochum and the Centre for Foreign Language Education, the International Office presents the Sprachcafé Bochum. The Sprachcafé is an online meeting place where RUB students can deepen and practice their foreign language skills in various language chats every week. The Sprachcafé will take place from 18 October 2021 from 6.30 to 9 pm.
Students planning an internship in a European country which shall take at least 60 days can apply for the ERASMUS internship scholarship. Applications can be submitted any time, but have to be available at least a month before the start of the internship.
Improve your own foreign language skills, get students excited about German as a foreign language, acquire intercultural skills and immerse yourself in the everyday life of the host country: The Foreign Language Assistantship Programme (FSA) of the Pedagogical Exchange Service (PAD) makes all this possible for students - depending on the destination country, by the way, not only for subjects of the teaching profession. The programme can be completed in 12 target countries - from Australia to Ireland. RUB students can apply until 6 January 2022 (for the USA until 11 November 2021).
The language tandem programmeTandem.MINT enables students of scientific and technical subjects to learn languages in an individualised and subject-related way. In an exchange with a tandem partner from a STEM (MINT) subject, you can test and expand your foreign language skills. Applications can still be accepted until 10 October 2021.
Within the framework of PROMOS, a scholarship programme funded by the BMBF, the Ruhr-Universität Bochum will again have funds available in 2022 to promote student mobility. Applications are open to RUB students from all faculties who are planning a stay abroad to write their final thesis, an internship abroad (except in Erasmus participating countries) or a study visit via an exchange programme of the International Office or the faculties/institutes at a foreign partner university of the RUB worldwide (except in Erasmus participating countries), as well as teachers who would like to receive funding for the implementation of study trips. The application deadline for the next round is 1 November 2021.
Some time ago, the DAAD launched a new funding program for prospective teachers, Lehramt.International. Applicants can receive funding for a self-organized internship at school facilities abroad for one to six months. This applies to voluntary and compulsory internships.
RISE Worldwide: In summer 2022, Bachelor students in biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, geosciences, computer science and related disciplines (e.g. medicine, psychology) will once again have the opportunity to work with researchers around the world who want to include German students in their research group to provide practical support for their project. From 1 November to 15 December 2021, interested Bachelor students can register online and view all project offers.
The RUB partner university Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) in Brazil offers a new interdisciplinary minor: Global Challenges. RUB students can also participate in the online courses, which are taught in English, Spanish and French. A unique opportunity to take a global perspective on the issues of inequality in Brazilian and international modern society! Application deadline is 08 October 2021, the courses start on 21 October.
The Ruhr-Universität Bochum is a member of the international university consortium UNIC (European University of Post-Industrial Cities). Through the university consortium, RUB students can attend events at the partner universities - very easily online! In addition to RUB, UNIC includes universities from Bilbao, Cork, Istanbul, Liège, Oulu, Rotterdam and Zagreb.
