Since winter semester 2013/2014 the Faculty of Physics at Technische Universität Dortmund and the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy at Ruhr-Universität Bochum together offer a master programme in Medical Physics.
You can choose a field of specialisation from the following core subjects of the programme:
Students acquire basic comprehension of the physical processes that are relevant to modern medicine. This comprises diagnostic methods as well as treatment concepts. You can choose from two specialisation modules: Nuclear and Particle Physics or Plasma Medicine.
In this area you find classical subjects of medical physics like physical methods for treatment and diagnostics with a focus on imaging.
Biophysics uses a broad interdisciplinary approach to investigate the structure, function and interaction of biomolecules such as proteins on an atomic scale. The fundamental research in biophysics aims at decoding the underlying physicochemical principles.
In this core area you will learn about methods and basic concepts of neuro-informatics and their application to problems in medical physics. Particular parts of this are methods of numerical simulation of neuronal models as well as methods of machine learning for imagine interpretation, classification and estimation.
